ELECTIONS 2010-2011

I hope you were able to attend the conference in Daytona Beach this fall.  Florida Council for Exceptional Children has a national reputation of hosting one of the best professional conferences in the nation.  The Volusia and Flagler Chapters continued the grand tradition of excellence!

It is time to begin the process of electing officers for the upcoming year (2010-2011).  I urge you to consider “putting your name on the slate,” as it will be one of the most rewarding professional (and personal) experiences you’ll ever have.  You will have the opportunity to work with THE BEST in the field of special education while advocating for the students, families and professionals who work in special education.  Your time and your talents are needed.  There are two positions available and they are listed below.

Vice-President

This is a four-year commitment; don’t let that scare you.  It actually gives you an opportunity to learn the organization, at the state, national and international levels, and prior to taking on the President’s role.  It’s progressive…Vice-President, then President-Elect, then President, then Past President.  You “grow” with the organization in a leadership role. FCEC has THE BEST Executive Board in the world…and I say that from personal experience.  Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork…you won’t have to worry about standing alone; you’ll always have an FCEC EB member on either side of you.

Secretary

This is a two-year commitment.  You must attend each board meeting (live and online) and take the minutes.  A template is available.

The nominating committee includes Terry Ryan from the St. Petersburg area, Kathy Moeder-Christensen from the Jacksonville area, Diana Morales from the Miami area, and June Logue from the panhandle.  Please consider “putting your name on the slate”…contact the committee member in your area for additional information.  The deadline for nominations is February 28th as an election ballot must be distributed in March, 2010.

Dr. Janet K. Raney, Past President
